Everything you need to know about the South Brooklyn Faster Connections Pilot

Starting Wednesday, March 8th, NYC Ferry’s South Brooklyn route will get faster for most riders heading to Wall Street/Pier 11 on weekday mornings, making commutes quicker and easier for New Yorkers. This pilot service will operate on weekdays from 6:15 AM – 10:15 AM.
During these times, some South Brooklyn route trips will make the following stops:

  • Bay Ridge
  • Atlantic Avenue/Pier 6
  • Wall St/Pier 11

Some South Brooklyn route trips will make the following stops:

  • BAT
  • Governors Island
  • Red Hook
  • Wall St./Pier 11
  • DUMBO/Fulton Ferry
  • Corlears Hook

Starting Wednesday, March 8, no morning commuter will make more than two stops before getting to Lower Manhattan on the South Brooklyn route.

South Brooklyn Faster Connections Pilot FAQs

What is the reason for this service change?

This pilot is being implemented to deliver faster travel times to Downtown Manhattan for South Brooklyn commuters. This will make the ferry more time-competitive with bus, subway, and other local transit options during the morning commute.

What if I now need to transfer to get to my final destination?

Transfers are available at Pier 11. You may also transfer at Pier 11 to the East River route for service to DUMBO, and to the Rockaway route for service to Sunset Park/BAT

Will the South Brooklyn Faster Connections Pilot operate at other times of day?

No, the South Brooklyn Route will make regular stops from Corlears Hook to Bay Ridge on weekdays from 10 AM-close and all day on weekends. For complete schedule information, visit the NYC Ferry app or ferry.nyc.

Do I need a special ticket type to use this service?

No, riders may use any adult one-way app or paper ticket to ride the South Brooklyn Faster Connections Pilot. For more information on ticketing and fares, visit the NYC Ferry app or ferry.nyc.

How long will the pilot period last?

There is no set end date for this pilot. The South Brooklyn Faster Connections Pilot service’s ridership, on-time performance, and rider satisfaction will be evaluated later this year.
